Adroit Consult International is proud to have been contracted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to contribute to a community-led initiative aimed at mitigating flooding and waste management in the Makerere Kavule area of Kampala, Uganda.
Despite efforts by the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to improve drainage infrastructure, flooding remains a persistent problem in several city suburbs. The UNDP’s data collection exercises in April 2023 revealed a complex drainage system in the Kiggundu and Sebina Zones, characterized by poorly defined tributaries and obstructions that hinder stormwater flow.
Recognizing the urgent need for solutions, UNDP is working with communities to co-develop low-cost flood-resilient tributaries. Adroit Consult International’s role is to provide expert consultancy services to support this collaborative effort, helping to design and implement effective drainage solutions that will enhance resilience and reduce the impact of flooding in the area
