Adroit Consult International

CO-MANAGEMENT OF THE EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.-2019-2029

Adroit Consult International has been a key partner in the East African Community Scholarship Program (EACSP) since 2018, co-managing it alongside the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA). The scholarship is an initiative by the East African Community (EAC) and is funded by the Federal Republic of Germany.

The goal of this initiative is to contribute towards training future leaders that will foster EAC Regional Integration. This goal will be partly achieved through the establishment of academic collaboration and an exchange programme between universities within the EAC Region, by encouraging students to study in EAC countries other than their own. The Project aims at creating future change agents, who identify themselves with the integration agenda of the EAC and are willing to share economic and development-oriented expert knowledge. The scholarship supports master’s students in Mathematics, Engineering, Informatics, Science, Technology and Business Science Programmes (STEM).

The consultancy assignment focuses on 7 Tasks; Task 1- Inception; Task 2 -Development of selection criteria for scholarship holders and universities; Task 3-Supporting the Selection process of universities, programmes and students; Task 4 -Developing concept for extracurricular activities, Task 5 -Supporting the short-term training of EAC employees; Task 6-Monitoring and evaluation and Task 7-Overall project management, Learning and reporting. We have coordinated several stakeholders including students, universities, EAC, IUCEA, KFW to ensure successful delivery of the Program. Since Inception, the program has made significant progress and has so far supported 180 students from 6 of the 8 EAC countries. (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda). As the program enters its second phase in 2025, Adroit Consult International will continue to play a pivotal role in expanding its reach to over 300 students across all eight EAC member states (Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda)
