Incorporated in Uganda in 2007, we have provided consultancy and management services to Governments, Non-Government Organizations, private sector entities, and Civil Society Organizations both local and international.
About the Project
Adroit Consult International has been contracted by Ripple Effect to support the implementation of the Youth Inclusive Dairy Markets Systems (YIDaMS) Project. The overall goal of this project is “Improved socio-economic well-being of young people in the dairy value chain in South Western Uganda by 2027,” anticipating to enable 63,400 young women, men, refugees, and persons with disabilities to access dignified and fulfilled work in the dairy sector. The project targets 70% young women, 10% refugees, and 5% persons with disabilities. Specifically, Adroit Consult International’s contribution will be to enable increased revenue of business enterprises by the young people in the dairy value chain by 2025 through among others, enhancing access to input and output markets, and also facilitating linkages to both financial and non-financial Business Development Services in the dairy value chain, for specifically young people.
Roles and Responsibilities
Overall, the project officer will be responsible for transitioning young people in the dairy value chain into dignified and fulfilling work.
Facilitating successful implementation of all project activities
- Establishing of New MCPs/MCCs to support in milk aggregation and marketing, supporting cross learning and orienting them
- Support groups in development and reviewing of marketing plans Facilitate young people to participate in trade shows and exhibitions
- Supporting and strengthening youth in enterprise development
- Enhancing promotion of business of young people along the dairy value chain
- Facilitate linkages and registration of groups to both government and non-government stakeholders
- Support groups, Micro and small enterprises in development of business plans to show projections in order to guide business growth.
- Support young people in product standards and quality control
- Support organisation of meetings and linkage events
- Support saving and lending practices and groups for young people within the dairy value chain Conduct bi-Annual Linkage meetings for Dairy value chain Actors, including Off takers
- Support project participant profiling.
Data collection and Reporting
- Ensure timely submission of quarterly and annual plans, and reports for the project for compilation by the project manager
- Develop project specific work plans, detailed implementation plans and project schedules based on project agreements and contractual obligations
- Collect routine data from the different youth groups
- Ensure timely submission of narrative reports
- Submit routine reports on project progress
- Ensure the utilisation of the Management Information System on the project
- Document success stories and lessons learnt on the project
Supervision and mentorship
- Provide timely supervision to youth groups and their enterprises to ensure continuity
- Guide and provide information required for young people to develop their enterprises
- Perform supervision of enterprises and provide on the spot guidance to youth groups
- Identify available opportunities for linkage of youth enterprises
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Must have at least a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the dairy value chain, extension services, business development, and Income generation or project management. A Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, marketing, Animal Science, Agribusiness, or a related field. Must have ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit. Must have knowledge of the location of implementation or language. Experience in collaboration with government stakeholders, and private sector actors, both financial and non-financial. Good experience and understanding of the dairy value chain best practices, disease management, and market dynamics. You have excellent communication skills and ability to write good reports. You have a proven experience in working with farmers. Must have excellent communication, result oriented attitude, interpersonal, and presentation skills. You have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, experience working in matrix relations. Experience with market linkages and value chain development. Familiarity with project cycle management tools and methodologies. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
