TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, COACHING AND MENTORING IN THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF LIVELIHOOD PLANS BY THE INJURED WORKERS OF THE BUJAGALI HYDRO-POWER PLANT CONSTRUCTION PROJECT-2024

Adroit Consult International was contracted by the International Finance Cooperation (IFC) to provide technical assistance, coaching and mentoring to a group of 83 former workers who were injured during the construction of the Bujagali Hydro-Power Plant. Bujagali, a 250 MW run-of-the-river hydropower plant on the Nile River in Uganda is currently a dominant source of electricity in, providing 30% of the country’s installed generation capacity and contributing 45% of its annual electricity generation. It was constructed over 10 years ago.

 

The consultancy assignments aimed to strengthen the capacity – of the Formerly Injured Workers (FIWs), and increase productivity and livelihood sustainability by supporting the development and implementation of alternative livelihood Plans and activities per the financial support provided as part of the Bujagali Advisory Project.

 

Adroit Consult International achieved this through the Engagement of various stakeholders such as the district leaders, local leaders, disability groups as well as the injured workers themselves.

 

Adroit also maintained open communication channels with the target beneficiaries throughout the Project. Specifically, we obtained approval and guidance from respective authorities, verified the eligibility and identities of the beneficiaries, guided them on the most appropriate livelihood activities to undertake that would be sustainable for them, guided them in the development of livelihood plans, procured inputs for the various plans and activities, advised and Mentored the workers on managing the businesses, Secured linkages beyond the Bujagali Advisory project, conducted project physical and virtual Monitoring, tracking and evaluation developed a documentary on the whole process to demonstrate the project impact through photos and videography.
