About the EAC Scholarship Programme
Adroit Consult International (ACI) is proud to partner with the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) and KfW in supporting the East African Community Scholarship Programme (EACSP).
We are pleased to share the official Call for Applications for Cohort 4 of the EAC Scholarship Programme, offering up to 120 scholarships for eligible young East Africans to pursue a two-year Master’s degree in an EAC Partner State other than their country of citizenship.
If you are an EAC citizen, under 35 years of age, and looking to advance your education while gaining valuable regional exposure, this could be an opportunity for you.

The EAC Scholarship Programme (EACSP) is a regional initiative of the East African Community and the Federal Republic of Germany, implemented by the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA).
The programme supports academically talented but financially disadvantaged students to pursue eligible Master’s programmes in an EAC Partner State other than their country of citizenship, helping develop future leaders while strengthening regional integration and sustainable development.
The programme covers applicants from the eight current EAC Partner States:
- Burundi
- Democratic Republic of the Congo
- Kenya
- Rwanda
- Somalia
- South Sudan
- Tanzania
- Uganda
Phase I of the programme supported 180 Master’s students across the East African Community. Phase II, which commenced in October 2025, is expected to support at least 280 students across three cohorts.
The programme’s vision is:
“Leadership to Foster Regional Integration.”
Female applicants, persons with disabilities and applicants from other disadvantaged backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. The programme aims to achieve at least 50% female participation among scholarship beneficiaries.
What's Covered?
Up to 120 scholarships are available under Cohort 4.
The scholarship package includes:
- Return economy-class air ticket between the scholar’s home country and host country upon commencement and completion of studies.
- Full tuition fees paid directly to the host university.
- EUR 200 arrival allowance upon arrival in the study country.
- EUR 380 monthly stipend to support accommodation, meals, local transport and other living expenses.
- EUR 650 study materials allowance.
- EUR 1,500 study and research allowance.
- Medical insurance for the duration of the scholarship.
- Visa/entry fee support, where applicable.
- Participation in at least one extracurricular event.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must satisfy all of the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of one of the eight EAC Partner States.
- Be below 35 years of age at the time of application.
- Apply to study in an EAC Partner State other than their country of citizenship.
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree with at least Second Class Upper Division, Distinction or an equivalent qualification.
- Have applied for admission to an eligible Master’s programme at a participating university.
- Submit a complete scholarship application together with the required supporting documents within the stipulated application period.

Scholarships are available for approved Master’s programmes in the following thematic areas:
Mathematics
Engineering
Informatics
Science
Business Science
Technology
Participating universities and institutions are located across Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania and include institutions such as Chuka University, Daystar University, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Egerton University, Strathmore University, KCA University, Kibabii University, Murang’a University of Technology, USIU-Africa, University of Rwanda, Busitema University, Mbarara University of Science & Technology, Nkumba University, University of Dar es Salaam, University of Dodoma, Sokoine University of Agriculture and the Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology, among others.
Applicants should consult the official Call for Applications for the complete list of eligible programmes and participating institutions.
Applicants may apply for more than one eligible Master’s programme and/or university. However, each programme application is treated as a separate application and requires a separate scholarship application form and complete supporting documentation.
How to Apply — Two-Part Process
Part A: Apply for University Admission
Step 1: Review the Call for Applications and select an eligible Master’s programme and participating university.
Step 2: Visit the selected university’s website and review its admission requirements and application process.
Step 3: Apply for admission to your chosen programme, indicating your intention to apply for the EAC Scholarship Programme. Pay the university application fee where applicable.
How to Apply — Two-Part Process
Part A: Apply for University Admission
Step 1: Review the Call for Applications and select an eligible Master’s programme and participating university.
Step 2: Visit the selected university’s website and review its admission requirements and application process.
Step 3: Apply for admission to your chosen programme, indicating your intention to apply for the EAC Scholarship Programme. Pay the university application fee where applicable.
Step 4: Complete and submit the online EAC Scholarship Application Form.
Step 5: Review the Supporting Documents Checklist and identify all required attachments.
Step 6: Compile your supporting documents into a single folder and name the files according to the prescribed document codes.
Step 7: Compress the documents into a single ZIP folder and submit it by email to:

Important!
Applying for university admission does not constitute an application for the EAC Scholarship Programme.
Applicants must complete both stages separately and submit all required supporting documentation.
